The idea of a Murderdoll up close and personal in a dive like the Underworld is, theoretically, an appealing one. In practice, however, it's a small number of dedicated apostles who venture into Camden this evening to see Acey Slade and his band of rock 'n' roll scumbags - a situation which affords UV-Face-painted AntiProduct frontman A.Product the opportunity to wander around the dancefloor and invite the entire audience onstage to sing backing vocals. A blur of insane bright colour and full-on rock, they are, in a word, fantastic.
Acey Slade may not have the pulling power of his Murderdoll colleagues Wednesday 13 or Joey Jordison, but if the unfortunate turnout is bothering him, he's certainly not showing it. Indeed he seems to be relishing playing his Mötley Crüe-worshipping scuzz rock in a tiny club. Songs like 'My Fuck You To You' burst with sleazy energy, and - while not world changing stuff - nobody goes home disappointed.
