Biography: from PiggyD.com

If you give a young Pig a Johnny Cash record, and then an older brother with KISS posters on his wall, the result is a very confused little piglet. Matt Montgomery has tried to make sense of it all since November 16th 1975. The Texas born swine got his first guitar at age 11, and has tried to play “I walk the line” as close to Paul Stanley as possible ever since.

High School was like another hurdle for a young kid like Matt. The Ramones, Alice Cooper, and Megadeth were Gods to him and the punks and metal heads shook their head in bemusement. Pig didn’t care; he would start a band that would play high school parties for both. A constant challenge was fusing all the elements that made him who he was into one big mess of slightly out-of -tune “entertainment”. At 17 he joined a hardcore-punk band called Spunk. The band was a bit older than Matt, and quickly knighted him the “Piglet” after their moniker of burly-pig-rock. Playing a few shows with fun and a lesson in the world or touring in a van with a 2 dollar Taco-Bell budget. His first out of town show in Dallas was also the date of his prom. But the rock was always more important. Kurt Cobain had been found dead that day so Spunk played a medley of “Come As You are” and their set staple “White Trash”. The rock fury would be continued……

After a 2 month run with Spunk, Pig found himself band-less and just out of High School. He decided to steal David, the drummer from Spunk, David’s wife Angie, and Nick a long time friend and bass player of all the bands Pig had been in. The two things that influenced him as a child artistically were Monster, and Rock and Roll. This would be the theme for the new not so super group……The She-Demons!

Complete with make-up, hot pink sequin skirts, and songs about dead girls, the She Demons cleared every bar within 30 seconds in Texas. The punk energy, the over the top production and unnecessary volume made them a sore sight and sound. Over the next five years they became a popular local attraction and opened for bigger cult bands as they came through town. After an endless struggle to be seen, heard and ascend to the next level, Pig decided the 3 records and regional touring was enough. He then relocated to Boston in July of 1999 to start over and live in town he had been drawn too since he was a child.

Boston was kind to Pig. He made some friends, had a good life and day job to keep him out of trouble. Music was not happening like it should have and he decided to leave town for a few months as Tommy Victors’ guitar tech. Prong came through town and kidnapped our Pig and gave him yet another lesson in the School Of Rock. On tour he met his then favorite band, AMEN, and started a friendship with the remaining members. After a month of being back in Boston, Pig was on his way to his second job at the Middle East Restaurant and Club. While driving he was rear ended and then pushed into on-coming traffic. Pig was sent to the hospital for minor scrapes and a twisted back. Returning home that night he found his day job had closed it doors after five years, a close relative had died, and he was asked to join AMEN and move to Los Angles in November of 2002.

Within a month he had packed up and relocated to LA. The band was quickly assembled for a full UK tour in February 2003. A lot of time and heart went into AMEN during this time. Personal and financial struggles coupled with endless touring and addictions reeked havoc on the true punk band. This forced Pig to leave in September 2004. Being in one of his favorite bands was the coolest so far, but he was just getting started. At this time Pig was called to audition for a spot in his favorite band of all time. The artist that had the biggest influence on him ever needed a guitar player. Pig did not get the gig. But within a couple of weeks was approached by Wednesday 13 of the Muderdolls to fill in on an upcoming solo tour of the UK and Europe. He did just that. Wednesday and Pig were separated at birth. Having endured a lot of the same struggles, and sharing the same influences their whole lives they get along great and put on a Hell of a show.

Still living in Los Angeles, Pig fills his time touring, writing music, painting, drawing, playing with his animals, and watching horror films with his lady. He now started his own merchandise company BATATUDE with his friends at MERCH MONSTER. Pig is also launching 3 websites simultaneously. The Batatude site, this Piggy D, site and a new brand of dark art and music, THE SUNDAY FIRES. A busy Pig is a happy Pig.
